Children In Need Day at QV Foods, Holbeach Site

‘Children in Need‘ fever really hit the QV Foods Holbeach site this year, prompted & supported by Peppa Saunders, who started the ball rolling with the idea of making bacon butties and sandwiches, for a “friday feast”.

The invitation was opened up to sister company Manor Fresh & saw many takers of the bacon rolls on the day. Cakes and scones were also kindly donated by many of the QV Foods staff, who encouraged a donation in return.

Peppa also registered with the BBC for an activity pack and leading up to Friday received a phone call from them asking if BBC Radio Lincolnshire could attend and produce a live feed for their listeners and of course to include a visit by Pudsey Bear himself!

Following on from a customer visit earlier in the week which resulted in a range of samples being available, Alison Birkett then proposed each pack could be sold for 50p with all donations going to ‘Children In Need‘, not surprisingly all the vegetables sold out very quickly.

Friday morning saw various additional activities which included leg and back waxing, staff were asked to pledge donations on behalf of the willing staff members. The BBC radio team appeared with Pudsey Bear closely following, a live broadcast was aired to BBC Lincolnshire listeners with the sound of bacon frying heard over the airwaves.

A fantastic effort was made by all involved and a big thank you in particular goes to:

Peppa Saunders, Tina Knowles, Richard Silk, Jonas Kvedas, Rachel Hole, Alison Birkett, Lisa Grimes, Amy Jackson, Matt Bradley, Angela Crowhurst, Chris Ells and of course to every single person at QV Foods and Manor Fresh for their kind donations.

The total donation raised by the staff for ‘Children In Need‘ on the day was £572.24 to which QV Foods Ltd have very kindly doubled.
